MEET GARY

A middle-aged man with gray hair and a beard, wearing a dark blue polo shirt with the logo 'Chartered Society of Physiotherapy,' standing in a well-lit physiotherapy clinic with a bed, potted plant, and framed sign in the background.

I'm Gary Martin, an HCPC-registered Chartered Physiotherapist with over 25 years' experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

I believe good physiotherapy starts with understanding the person as well as the problem. That means taking the time to listen, working out what's really causing your symptoms, and developing a treatment plan that makes sense for you.

“Good physiotherapy can be so much more than a brief assessment and an exercise sheet.” ‍

What has kept me interested in physiotherapy for more than 25 years is its investigative nature.

Understanding why a problem has developed — rather than simply treating where it hurts

— is often the key to treating it successfully.

Exercise and rehabilitation are important, but they are only part of the picture. I believe treatment starts with taking the time to understand why a problem has developed, what may be preventing recovery and what you, as an individual, need to get better.

My approach is practical and hands-on where appropriate. If something is weak, we'll strengthen it. If it's tight, we'll stretch it. If it's stiff, we'll work on restoring movement. The important thing is taking the time to understand what is causing the problem and what you, as an individual, need to get better.

My Approach

After many years in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, treating a wide range of conditions, I've chosen to return to a smaller and more personal style of practice.

I deliberately see a limited number of patients. That gives me the time to listen properly, assess thoroughly and give each person my full attention. For me, that's what good physiotherapy should be about.
